Matchweek 35 of the 2021/22 EPL season saw Everton grab a huge win in their relegation scrap, while neither club blinked in the title race.

Toffee relief

What a win.

When your keeper is nailed-on for three votes, it gives an indication of just how much Everton had to scrap in their 1-0 win over Chelsea. Jordan Pickford was enormous between the sticks for the Toffees, who started $4.50 outsiders against the third-placed Blues at Goodison Park. The biggest EPL result of the weekend was made all the more important for Frank Lampard’s men after Leeds United were hammered 4-0 at home by Manchester City. It means Everton are now just two points from safety having picked up seven points in their last four games.

Liverpool, City in control

As it has for over a month now, the EPL title race remains ‘as is’. Manchester City maintain their one-point lead over Liverpool after both travelled away from home on the weekend, and both were clinical. The Reds had the tougher task, heading up north to Newcastle, but showed why they were $1.40 pre-game favourites with a 1-0 win. City started even shorter at $1.29 and soon showed why, battering Leeds 4-0 at Elland Road.

As a result, the title market has barely shifted, with City ($1.45) fancied to maintain their lead over the Reds ($2.80) right until the end.

Rivals locked in tussle

Neither Arsenal or Tottenham slipped in the Top 4 race, either. The Gunners maintain a two-point gap over their North London rivals after a strong 2-1 win away at West Ham after starting $1.80 favourites. Spurs, meanwhile, were more clinical in their 3-1 victory over Leicester after starting a shorter $1.44 at home.

The results mean Mikel Arteta’s men remain $1.40 fancies to play Champions League football next season, while Spurs are still very much in the hunt at $2.50.
