Week 10 of the 2021/22 EPL season saw a new title favourite emerge, while one London-based club secured (by far) the biggest upset of the season.
Here’s how it looked for punters:
Blues in the hot seat
It’s hard to imagine a better weekend for Chelsea. Not only did Thomas Tuchel’s side ease past Newcastle 3-0 at St James’ Park ($1.36 favourites pre-game), but title rivals Manchester City and Liverpool lost and drew respectively. It’s now seen them go three points clear at the top of the EPL table, with the league’s best goal difference to boot.
Having begun bridging the gap with City in recent weeks, the Blues are now title favourites with Palmerbet. City’s loss to Crystal Palace saw them lengthen from $1.91 to $2.40, while three points on Tyneside for Chelsea saw them shorten from $3.30 into $2.35. A huge shift.

‘Glad all over’
It was a result no one saw coming. And that was certainly reflected in the pre-game markets. Crystal Palace started as whopping $17 outsiders with Palmerbet against City on Saturday. But a brilliant performance at the Etihad saw them run out 2-0 winners. In doing so, they unsurprisingly secured the biggest EPL upset of the season. In fact, no other club has claimed three points at double-figure odds this campaign. City got ‘many things’ wrong in loss according to manager Pep Guardiola, and their stranglehold on the favourites tag (at one stage $1.67) is gone.

Hammers continue charge
West Ham’s best ever finish in the EPL era is sixth, achieved last season. But could they break that record again in 2021/22? The Hammers are undeniably flying; their latest win a 4-1 thumping away at Villa Park despite starting at $2.50. It was an eighth win in their last nine games (all competitions), and David Moyes’ side are now considered a genuine Top 4 hope. In fact, they’ve shortened from $18 into $8 with Palmerbet to achieve exactly that.
West Ham fans must be pinching themselves over this last 12 months.
