Saturday’s G1 Coolmore Legacy Stakes (1600m) will serve as the grand final for a host of mares looking to capture that all-important win at the top level.

But with some concerns lingering over the form of a main lead-up race, all signs point to a Victorian visitor taking home the spoils.

The G2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) is traditionally one of the key races in the lead-up to the Coolmore Legacy Stakes.

A small, but select field of seven mares faced the starter in this year’s edition, with the final margins of the race leaving some doubts over its strength going forward.

Prompt Response ($8.50), was able to snatch a narrow victory, with just 1.7 lengths covering the field from top to tail!

The blanket finish of the race has to raise some questions over the strength of this form, and all seven runners will back up in Saturday’s race – including favourite, Dixie Blossoms ($6.00).

With these mares taking up such a large percentage of the market, it presents a great opportunity for punters to get a distinct edge in taking on the Emancipation form.

Silence Deafening

So we’re taking our almost half the field by discounting the Emancipation form, so where do we look?

Andrew Noblet’s mare, Silent Sedition ($8.00), looks to have a great profile in the lead-up to this race.

She ran gallantly in the G1 Coolmore Classic, sticking on for third despite being caught three and four wide the entire journey.

Unlike the mares that finished around her in the Coolmore, she elected to head back to the trials rather than contest the Emanciaption.

After jumping on the bunny in the Cranbourne heat, she coasted clear for an impressive three-length victory, in what was a visually pleasing piece of work.

That should hold her in good stead for this event, and without the blot of the Emancipation in her form, Silent Sedition looks the leading chance in a typically open Coolmore Legacy Stakes.
