CAULFIELD CUP

CAULFIELD R9 (2400m) 5:15 pm

This year’s edition of the Cup looks extremely open and I’m going to have something each way on DUKE DE SESSA from the Maher/Eustace camp. Although they also have the favorite in Gold Trip running and will obviously be hard to beat, this five-year-old from Ireland has been running some very nice races this time in, only 4 lengths behind Mr Brightside in the Memsie Stakes and similar behind the stablemate in the Turnbull Stakes working to the line in fine fashion. Will enjoy the rise in journey and third-up should be at peak fitness, so make sure you have something on him at the juicy odds at play.

THOUSAND GUINEAS PRELUDE

CAULFIELD R5 (1400m) 2:35 pm

Will stick with the last start winner at The Valley in COEUR VOLANTE. She was held up approaching the home turn and would’ve been a good thing beaten if beaten but some Blake Shinn magic he found a way and powered through the line to win well. The rise in journey looks to suit this big striding filly and she would’ve derived plenty of benefit from that first-up run. She should take some holding off at the line.

TRISTARC STAKES

CAULFIELD R7 (1400m) 3:30 pm

C’EST MAGIQUE looks extremely well placed to take out the Tristarc Stakes. Both of her runs this time in, she has worked to the line beautifully behind Benedetta and Star Patrol and the 1400m looks ideal for her at this stage of her campaign. Her last run last time in, she finished 2L behind In Secret in the Coolmore at Flemington after coming from near last ,so watch out late for her to be the one running over them at the finish.

EURYTHMIC STAKES

ASCOT R8 (1400m) 8:05 pm

TRIX OF THE TRADE, last year’s Railway Stakes winner, resumes today and should prove very hard to beat first-up. He has won three out of four fresh runs and with Troy Turner taking the ride, appears to be one of the better bets on a tough day.

NO METRO WINS HANDICAP

EAGLE FARM R10 (1200m) 6:20 pm

LOST IN TRANSIT looks set to bounce into the winner’s stall again after a close second last time out at Eagle Farm. This four year old gelding usually goes forward and should be able to dictate the pace of the race from there. Looks like a good thing to finish the card.
