2YO CLASSIC MAGIC MILLIONS

GOLD COAST RACE 8 (1200m) 3:35 pm

In what appears to be quite an even two-year-old Classic Magic Millions this year, I’m expecting the pace to be on all the way with the two favorites leading the way. Sticking with HIGHNESS to be the one that will get the sit on them and get over them late. Last start he was left flat footed on straightening by Spywire in the Wyong Magic Million event but once balanced up, savaged the line and won easily. If he’s within a few lengths at the corner, watch out.

I feel with the run under his girth, CHRYSAOR will have derived plenty of benefit from that last outing going down to the top-weight in the Vo Rogue and he can turn the tables on him here. James McDonald jumps on board and should get the run of the race from the draw. Did seem to get through the slow last time quite well and if he can handle the heavy will be hard to toss.

STANDISH HANDICAP

FLEMINGTON RACE 8 (1200m) 4:28 pm

Although stepping out to Group company for the first time, SGHIRRIPA looks the one to beat here after his impressive victory in the Christmas Stakes at Caulfield on Boxing Day. He has plenty of upside and appears that the 1200m down the straight will only suit him even more.

BM78 HANDICAP

FLEMINGTON RACE 10 (1200m) 5:48 pm

At each way odds I like the look of JENNY JEROME. She is a lightly raced mare who has never missed a place second up from her three attempts. Last time out at The Valley, she ran home solidly after being held up before the corner. Look for her to be right in the finish.

RATING 66+ HANDICAP

ASCOT RACE 9 (1200m) 6:12 pm

DUCHESS OF GOSSIP was extremely unlucky last time out when she was caught wide the trip and looked the winner upon straightening but the tough run took its toll over the final stages. She should get a better run here and I think we can all go out a winner with the combination of The Duchess and William Pike in the last here at Ascot.
