Best Bets – Saturday 8th June

NATIONAL CLASSIC

Eagle Farm Race 7 (1600m) 3:13 pm

LA CRIQUE looks extremely hard to beat here in her return to Australia and taking on her own sex only. She has competed against some of the best in the business over the past year or so and she looks well in at weight for age. James McDonald jumps on board and with any luck in running, she should be winning this.

QUEENSLAND OAKS

Eagle Farm Race 8 (2200m) 3:52 pm

Sticking with MOLLY BLOOM here in the Queensland Oaks after getting to the line solidly last time out in The Roses at Doomben. She is third-up here in Australia now and she should relish the extra 200m of the Queensland Oaks trip and turn the tables on Scarlet Oak.

BM84 PLATE

Flemington Race 4 (2520m) 1:35 pm

Like the look of QUANTUM CAT in the stayers event at Flemington. A lightly raced import from the UK has now had three runs here in Australia and should be ready to breakthrough. He has won twice over the journey at Newcastle (UK) and this looks a race well within his grasp.

ATA HANDICAP

Flemington Race 7 (1100m) 3:20 pm

In a very open affair, I’m going with the consistent RIGHT TO THE PARTY to bounce back into the winners stall. First-up was only beaten a neck by Boognish at Morphettville and she has had a brief freshen up for this. At nice odds, she is well worth an each way play.

BM66+ HANDICAP

Belmont Park Race 5 (1200m) 4:24 pm

TWAIN’S ANGEL did the right thing by us a fortnight ago and has put together a fantastic run of five wins to start her career. She looks well in again against very similar opposition and I can see no reason she won’t continue that picket fence here.
