Best Bets – Saturday 31st May

JOLIESTAR was enormous at her last run in the All Aged Stakes when went down narrowly to Jimmysstar at Randwick. She has had a six week lay-off and had a tick over trial at Warwick Farm a week ago. She has an outstanding fresh record and although she has drawn wide, she may prove too good for these.

Will be having a throw at the stumps again on FIRM AGREEMENT in the Queensland Derby. Went back to the tail in the Rough Habit last start and worked home late but was just too far back in the run. Drawn much better and hopefully he will sit closer and the 2400m of this race looks ideal for him. Something each way is worth a punt.

BIG SWINGER looks a solid bet at Caulfield. He won his first two starts before going under at Flemington back in the spring. He then came back into work with an impressive win at Pakenham before running well in the Group 2 Arrowfield at Randwick where he finished 1.2 lengths off winner. This race looks ideal for him to get back into the winners stall.

Really liked the way PISANELLO finished off his race at Scone a fortnight ago. He was last at the corner and worked through the field to go under by less than 3 lengths at the end of the race. Does race best on a good surface and this distance, so at juicy odds, he looks a fantastic each way play.

Look for FAMOUS DAIN to bounce back after going under at a short price at Belmont last time out. Looks like a horse on the rise and I’m sure Pikey will time his run better this time around and get this four-year-old gelding back to winning form.
