Best Bets – Saturday 30th March

AUSTRALIAN CUP

Flemington Race 8 (2000m) 4:15 pm

Hard to go past MR BRIGHTSIDE in the Australian Cup. He is going to get all the favours from the draw and by no means will get as far back as he did last time. Craig Williams copped plenty for the ride and he’ll be keen to answer some of his critics. He’ll certainly enjoy the 2000m of the Australian Cup and I’m tipping he will be the one chasing hard and running down Pride Of Jenni today.

GRAND HANDICAP

Flemington Race 6 (2000m) 3:05 pm

SEA WHAT I SEE has won her past three starts and this four-year-old mare who is lightly raced, looks extremely promising. She quickened nicely to win last start on the new Heath course at Caulfield and she appears to be well suited stepping up to the 2000m here.

MARES HANDICAP

Flemington Race 1 (1100m) 12:15 pm

Going to have something each way on MY BELLA MAE again after a slightly disappointing run at Caulfield last start. She missed the kick there and then raced far too keenly, so I’m forgiving the run and hopefully she can sit just off the speed here and get over them late. At nice each way odds I feel she is a good way to start the day.

3YO HANDICAP

Doomben Race 5 (1600m) 1:58 pm

TRANSATLANTIC appears to be the bet of the day here at Doomben. Ran home solidly first-up to finish midfield and then scored a big win after racing up on speed. Looks to have plenty of talent and suited to the mile of this race. He should prove a class above his opposition and onwards to better races.

WA OAKS

Ascot Race 8 (2400m) 4:50 pm

OWN THE QUEEN has a picket fence against her name and can see no reason why she won’t be adding another to her resume here in the WA Oaks. She races like a true stayer and dug deep, winning the Natasha last time out and was doing better than her rivals at the line. Certainly looks extremely hard to beat again.
