Best Bets – Saturday 23rd November

METEORITE

Cranbourne Race 8 (1200m) 4:25 pm

BARAQIEL looks extremely hard to beat here if he reproduces that form when he ran away with the McEwen Stakes at The Valley four weeks ago. He then ran a solid race behind Sunshine In Paris at Group 1 level at Flemington, beaten only 2 lengths. He only needs to bring that kind of form to Cranbourne to take out The Meteorite.

CRANBOURNE CUP

Cranbourne Race 9 (1600m) 5:00 pm

The Cup this year looks like a very even race and I’m going with PINSTRIPED at a nice each-way quote to get the money. Only beaten 4 lengths by Mr Brightside last time out and with the low draw here, he should get a nice trip in behind the speed throughout. Trained on the track and will be looking to add a Cranbourne Cup to his trophy cabinet.

W.A. GUINEAS

Ascot Race 7 (1600m) 7:21 pm

SEPTEMBER BORN looked very impressive winning the listed Fairetha at his last start, when he ran all over them from midfield settling down. The extra trip of the Guineas looks perfect for him at this stage of his campaign and he should be winning this.

RAILWAY STAKES

Ascot Race 8 (1600m) 7:56 pm

Ciaron Maher has taken LIGHT INFANTRY MAN over for this prestigious Group 1 affair and James McDonald has taken up the opportunity for the ride after winning the Chester Manifold at Flemington last time out together. He has drawn favorably and should take a power of holding off at the finish.

BM78 HANDICAP

Doomben Race 9 (1110m) 6:12 pm

Will be having something each-way on ADDRIEL on the heavy track we are facing at Doomben today. This four-year-old has not missed a place in all three first-up runs previously and has also won at his only heavy track start. Coming off a couple of placings at the trials and look for him to run a solid race fresh.
