TWO-YEARS-OLD HCP
FIRST SETTLER looked good winning on debut at Caulfield. When called upon on straightening, he quickened smartly and proved too strong over final stages. From the outside draw down the straight, he should get a trail and hopefully will show that acceleration again. If he does, he certainly will prove hard to hold out.
FLEMINGTON CUP
Looking at the each-way price on offer for the very consistent TARAMANSOUR with Jamie Kah aboard. He has ran second his past two runs going down narrowly two back and chased well behind the in form Berkshire Breeze last time out. The 2800m shouldn’t be a problem for him and look for him to outstay them.
CLASS 6 PLATE
Sticking with MILLANE here to get back into the winners stall. He has been getting too far back and running on stylishly. From the low draw today, hopefully they will be more positive on him and he should be close enough to be able to gather them in and get the money.
THREE-YEAR-OLD HCP
ZAPHOD won on his debut effort at Scone impressively last time out. He sat just off the speed and proved too strong for them. Should get a very similar run here and will have taken plenty of benefit from that outing. Looks like the one they will have to beat.
BELMONT CLASSIC
PETROUCHKA won the Oaks last time out impressively coming from behind at the corner. The rise in distance shouldn’t prove any problem for her and looks to have the fillies covered and could be too strong for the boys also.
